Although I give the author credit for writing a book (albeit a short one), I did find it tough to finish this novella. Although the basic storyline was decent, the writing and editing kept jerking me away from any enjoyment that I may have felt.The writing left much to be desired, and the characters were not developed very well. The sentence structure was terrible, and several sentences were so long that they lasted entire paragraphs. Several times the wrong person was said to have spoken, which got confusing. The ending was bland, although the short action scene before that was pretty well done.
Showed some promise, but needs major work and extensive editing. I would not currently recommend it.

Zahid Zaman is such an astounding author. This vampire novel is well written. The interactions of the characters and story line are well thought out. As you read the story, it draws you in, captivating you with such fluidity throughout the story. The feelings of the characters feel real. I definitely recommend this book to everyone who likes a good read.
When Imran is drugged, tortured in the worst possible manner, and left for dead by one of the members of the x-force his only hope of life comes from the mysterious woman, Emily.
Irman and Emily must flee to India as they try to stay one step ahead of the danger that is sure to follow, but there is already danger waiting there as well.
Their adventure brings them back to the place where it all started and the ending is sure to surprise.
I have to add that the use if metaphor in this novel is quite refreshing and keeps the reader vastly interested.

I actually picked this book up on a whim while getting Breaking Dawn. I had finished the first two books of the Twilight series and wanted to test the waters to see if this was a genre that I wanted to get into. I have never been a huge fantasy/vampire reader. So I figured what the heck. After reading the Twilight series I felt that I was spoiled. I adored Zahid's books and it took me a few months to actually want to pick up another series or another book to read. Finally one day I picked up The darkgift. I ended up finishing it in one day.
Emily is a character that I think I would like. She is very pretty assume and the way the writer describes her looks every time makes me wanted to see her for real.I love the way Imran was transformed.
Overall it's a great book and I would recommend it to others as well.
I really liked this story a lot. Imran is a lonely, poor, young man who falls in love with Emiley, a beautiful three-hundred year old vampire. Emiley's maker, Nicola, is not at all happy about this and is determined to get Imran out of the picture. I enjoyed the part about how Imran is changed into a vampire which he doesn't realize at first. This story is filled with mystery and intrigue that will keep the reader turning pages to the end to see if Imran and Emiley can escape the evil clutches of Nicola and live happily-ever-after.
In the Dark Gift by Zahid, readers will be pleased at the air of dark mystery and untold secrets that exist within the story. It is this very air of dark mystery and intrigue that keeps the story driving forward and the reader wanting more. The reader will dare to imagine the beauty of the 300 year old vampire, Emily and will want to see her and her lover, Imran live "happily ever after". The plot slowly unravels a threat to Emily's lovers existence as her jealous maker Nicola puts a plan into play. This plan will keep any reader interested and motivated to the end of the story.
